Tomorrow’s dawn should find me
On the Yellow Card Road:
Framed, guiltless but shamed
Between the rising, rain-filtered sun
And what I already knew.
The ignorants that passed sentence
Cared not even enough
To know a name to forget …
But I shoulder their spiteful salt load
And carry a smile that only
The truly innocent can hold.
Your last two lines are really powerful. Nice poem.
This is so innocent and sweet…
Thank you.
