The Wide-Narrow …

In the way

That a just-dislodged rock –

Beginning to fall, ever faster –

Or a hurled beach pebble,

Is free.

There are now

No stern warning-wag fingers,

No security blankets

Or fire doors

No safety nets between

Me and the wide-narrow future:

No strings to keep me up,

No reins to pull me back,

No wire limits to where

I might travel.

What seems to be

Is not always there,

What is true

Is not always real.
