Again and Again: Why Not?

… and back again, to the magical mixture of clean, high air, friends (old and new), chemical free beer, home brewed schnapps and to-die-for cakes.

To Linz via a  Germanic-efficient and very dramatic “go-around” (aborted landing) at Frankfurt’s massive hub. Arriving late at the “Blue Danube” airport. Which must have disrupted the lives of people who were collecting me … though you would not know it from their greetings.

Life moves on different wheels here. The pace is human and addictive, relaxing and energising. People are friendly first, ask questions later: no pressure, smiles are big, generosity bigger.

Fur Kurt

Balanced between Beethoven and Thunder,

We are all Destiny’s children,

Walking – whether we know it or not –

With our Fates and our phantoms.

This day our honest money is unacceptable,

We cannot climb the tower.

We cool our jets instead;

No wind, no forward speed:

The patient river of friendship

Smoothes our broken edges.

The new-old voices of rock

Loud again in

The still air.

The News You Have

However important you may believe

It to be;

I really don’t want

The news you have.

But, only too sadly

Your whole body,

Demeanour

Broadcast it:

You have burned

The bridges we knew;

Say to Hell with it and

Two fingers to those

Who don’t agree.

Is it O.K.

My long-time friend,

If I worry –

Just a little –

For you?

Opposites

Held up by a red light;

Frustrated and at end-tether point

He fidgets, restless,

Tense hands full of tomorrow carpet,

Head packed with plans and deadlines.

On the other side of

The fat-tar, busy river

She lingers, placid,

Unhurried by clocks;

Head in a good space

Ears hanging on to

The dizzying music of stars.

He chooses not

To see her,

She doesn’t even

Realise he’s there.
